Amorgos is the easternmost island of the Greek Cyclades group, with around 1,900 friendly inhabitants who are mainly spread out between two small port towns at either end of the island, and a few picturesque mountain villages in-between. There's no airport meaning the island is only accessible by ferry, and the fact that it's naturally covered in thriving, medicinal wild flowers, herbs and plants, all surrounded by crystal clear waters, makes it the perfect location for a deeply-relaxing escape!
The accommodation comes as an airy, clean and comfortable Superior Modern room, each with a balcony or terrace and ocean views, tastefully decorated and furnished with everything you'd expect, including a flat-screen TV, direct dial telephone, designer bed linen, bath robes and pool towels, slippers, and dare we say it, WiFi!

Group excursions of ancient Amorgos are available and can be arranged and booked with the hotel reception team - it is also possible to hire a car to explore the island. Fancy a dip in the tempting turquoise waters? The sandy beaches are only a stones throw away from the hotel, and after your swim before you relax on the beach, why not have a lazy-lunch at one of the unique beachfront restaurants, where you can sample the local and traditional Greek dishes on offer, and the constantly changing mountain-framed view of the bay
Full day island tour, including visit to the 1000-year old Monastery of Panagia Chozoviotissa, built in the cliffs 300 meters above the sea; visit to the Byzantine Monastery of St George Valsamitis, built upon the ruins of an ancient water oracle, dedicated to god Apollo, where one can still see the water running in the church; visit to the capital of the island Chora, with its picturesque alleys, its 40 churches and 12 windmills on the surrounding hills.Price per person: 35 €.

Getting to Amorgos:
First and foremost, you will need to be at The Port of Piraeus, Athens, no later than 16:30 - the ferry departs for Amorgos at 17:30, and if you miss the boat you'll have to wait 24 hours for the next one!
UK-ATHENS-AMORGOS or UK-NAXOS-AMORGOS
UK-Athens-Amorgos: the lower priced of the two possible routes, but you can arrange a bonus stop-over night in Athens and explore the city this way!
UK-Naxos-Amorgos: the higher priced of the two possible routes, reducing ferry travel time to 3.5 hours, ideal if you are not up for the adventure of getting to Amorgos from Athens (we've done the UK-Athens-Amorgos ferry option, twice now, and although the ferry takes a good few hours, it really is a fun way to get there!), but it is quite tricky to get the Amorgos-Naxos Ferry and Naxos Flights to sync up
It's worth remembering that the isolated and remote location of Amorgos acts like a natural filter, meaning that it's not packed with weekend travellers and party-revellers, which is what makes it the special, blissfully tranquil place that it is, and well worth the mini-adventure to get to - whichever route you decide to take, your transfer coach will collect you when you disembark on Amorgos, and you'll receive a warm, friendly and relaxed MahalaYoga welcome at The Aegialis Hotel and Spa upon arrival and throughout your stay with us
Use your preferred flight provider for the return UK-Athens/Naxos leg of your journey, and you'll also need a return ferry ticket for the final stretch, Athens/Naxons-Amorgos, they're cheap enough and you can purchase them through companies such as 'Blue Star', or your other preferred ferry ticket provider
Book your flights early - the closer you leave it to the time of departure the more expensive they become
For example, on the 18th December 2021, low-cost, return flights from London to Athens were available for £70.42, plus your Ferry ticket at around £50.00 return, that's Amorgos and back for £120.42 (plus any optional chargeable extras) Don't leave it too late to book!
